Description

The 3-key Clarineau is the flagship of our Clarineau models. The fingering in the lower octave is like a recorder. However, it differs from the recorder in that the second register of a clarinet is a twelfth highter, not an octave higher as with the recorder. The 3-key Clarineau was developed in collaboration with Philip Iberg.

The range: Chromatically b - g". Experienced players can get more range. The chalumeau is the historic forerunner of today's clarinet, and is played very much like a clarinet. In the Clarineau we have all the charm of the historic chalumeau combined with the benefit of a modern clarinet mouthpiece.

The third key extends the range by a semitone down and helps with the intonation of the f#''. The instrument is made of impregnated pear wood. Pearwood gives the sound of the instrument an extremely soft and warm sound. This Clarineau has 3 keys. The special design of the keys protects both the pad and the spring. Because the keys are integrated into the body, damage is nearly impossible – even at a grade school.

And because an instrument can only be as good as the mouthpiece, we deliver our instruments made with high quality Zinner mouthpiece (made in Germany).
The reeds are made by a small firm here in Germany. The wood used is tested to assure it is free of pesticides and other toxins. We think these are small but distinct differences compared to other instruments. We think that an instrument maker should know that the players of his instruments are worth it.

Purchase includes: instrument with a mouthpiece, metal ligature, mouthpiece cap, reed, cotton bag, cleaning rod with leather cloth, tin of grease and a fingering chart.
