Description

Mandolas or octave mandolins in the F-Style design are rarely seen. Our version is not only very elaborately adorned, but also distinguishes itself both from the sound as well as the feeling of playing it.

Following the design of the F-mandolin, this mandola made of solid wood has an arched top and creates a comparatively brilliant tone that radiates forward. The body, which is quite large for a mandola, supports this with a lot of volume. This creates a presence that fills the room - this Mandola stands out from her little sister as well as from bouzoukis, guitars and other instruments in the lower range.

The fretboard and bridge are much wider than mandolas, cisterns and bouzoukis. As a result, the distance between the courses is greater - this helps one hit the right courses when playing fast. As with all F-Style mandolins, the bridge is height-adjustable, so the string position can be easily adapted to individual preferences.

These great features are framed by a lush look: from the Florentine shape with a three-dimensional snail-shape in the body and an additional snail-shape in the head plate, over the solid wood frame made from flamed maple and the binding with mother-of-pearl inlay, to the large-area and detailed inlays on the fretboard, back and mechanicals. In a retro look are the golden tuners and the brass tailpiece which match the look of the Baroque era.

The tuning of the instrument is GDae, which is an octave below the mandolin. Unlike the Irish bouzouki, the G and D strings are tuned in unison. The scale length is 580 mm (22.8 in) shorter than the bouzoukis (650 mm, 25.6 in). The height of the strings can be adjusted via the built-in neck adjustment nut as well as the height-adjustable bridge. The instrument is fully set up and made ready to play in our master workshop.

Dimensions:

Total length 37.8 in, total height 3.9 in, total width 13.4 in

Scale length 22.8 in

Body 18.5 in long, 13.4 in wide, frame height 2.8 in

Neck length 19.7 in, upper nut 1.7 in, neck width 2.6 in

Bridge width (insert) 2.8 in
